The Moo Monologues #american food

04Aug

We love to name our flavours after hot spots in the South in order to teach ice cream/food lovers about places they should try on their next trip to America. After all, the south has the best food in the country! From Nashville to South Carolina to all 16 Southern states.  We want to cover them all.  This month’s new flavour, “South Carolina Strawberry Hills”, takes it’s name after the famous Strawberry Hills, South Carolina, USA.  It’s here you’ll want to meet the historic Cooley family and visit their Café and Fruit Farm.  The current owner is Perry Cooley, grandson of the original owner who purchased the land as a cotton farm in the early 1900s, James Cooley (see photo below. Credits to www.StrawberryHillsUSA.com). They grow fruits throughout the seasons including Spring Strawberries, Summer Peaches and Blackberries, and Fall Pumpkins and Sunflowers. At their café you are sure to experience a true southern breakfast with their "cat head" biscuits made fresh every morning, sausage gravy, grits, and eggs just how you like them. Their lunch menu is sure to get your mouth watering with hand-patted burgers and hotdogs that "fill the bun", as James Cooley likes to call them. They make their chili and slaw from scratch, and the sweet iced tea is always flowing. Afterwards, mozzy on over their ice cream parlour where since 2004 the Cooley family has been churning fresh ice cream with fruits from the farm.  They offer 12 homemade flavours and 18 Hershey flavours!
View their ice-cream flavours on their website. They have a delicious variety of specialty desserts including milkshakes, banana splits, hot fudge sundaes, and root beer floats. They also offer SEASONAL strawberry shortcake, peach cobbler, or apple pie. This is why we have named our NEW South Carolina Strawberry Hills Southern Sweeties Ice Cream flavour in their honour! In the south, you’re family. Ya’ll check them out!
